Vox Grata, a Nashville-based women’s choir, is now auditioning sopranos and altos for its spring concert season. Audition appointments can be requested through February 10, 2014. Rehearsals take place on Mondays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Avenue, Nashville. Rehearsals for the spring season will begin on Monday, February 17.
Vox Grata was founded by Artistic Director, Jeanette MacCallum in 2012. The ensemble performed its inaugural concert to a standing ovation audience in January 2013, with additional performances in April and May 2013 and January 2014. The choir is comprised of joyful women who, out of gratitude for the fullness of their own lives, possess a desire to sing together for the benefit of others. The group performs repertoire that expresses a uniquely feminine spirit, especially works that promote the best interests of women in society. All concert programs directly benefit the needs of women in the Nashville area. To date, concerts have benefited Better Decisions, a local women’s prison ministry, Thistle Farms and Mending Hearts.
Vox Grata performs challenging classical choral repertoire and auditions are limited to singers with significant choral experience. A number of Vox Grata members sing in 2-3 ensembles in the Nashville area, and many study voice privately. Women requesting audition appointments will be asked to list their previous choral experience.
The spring concert season includes performances on Sunday, March 2 and Thursday, May 22, 2014. Information about the audition process can be found at www.voxgrata.com. An audition request form can be submitted directly from the website or by e-mailing email@example.com.
