Emerging Conductors

The Vox Grata Conducting Apprenticeship Program provides gifted, developing conductors with learning experiences which complement their education in traditional degree programs.

This is a unique and exciting, one-year opportunity to work alongside the conducting mentors with podium time during both rehearsals and concerts. The Conducting Apprenticeship reflects the high value Vox Grata places upon the recognition of emerging conductors.

Vox Grata is excited to announce its 2023/24 Conducting Apprentice, Ashley Vance. Ashley will began her work with Vox Grata in August.

Ashley Vance is a 2020 Trevecca graduate with a degree in vocal performance. She is currently the music director at Gallatin First United Methodist Church, where she serves as the Chancel Choir director, Praise Team leader, and Music Academy artistic director and teacher. She opened the Music Academy at GFUMC in 2022, and the non-profit organization’s mission is to provide affordable music lessons to families in financial need.

Ashley performs regularly as a soprano soloist and conductor with various groups in greater Nashville. She is passionate about music education and community music involvement for people of all ages. She is currently auditioning for graduate school programs in choral conducting and plans to begin her studies in the fall of 2024. In her free time, Ashley likes to kayak and paddleboard, drink coffee, travel, and record original music (which can be found on Spotify starting 9/1/23)!
