Vox Grata Women’s Choir presents “We Have a Voice: A Celebration of Women’s Suffrage” with special guests the W. Crimm Singers and ALIAS Chamber Ensemble. The concert will take place on Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 PM at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, 1203 Ninth Avenue North, Nashville. This concert will benefit the Tennessee League of Women Voters Education Fund, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing election information and resources to voters.
This concert will feature composer Andrea Ramsey’s Suffrage Cantata, composed to commemorate the 100thanniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment. This large-scale work captures the struggle for women’s right to vote through women’s voices, piano, string quartet and percussion. It seamlessly blends lyrics and narration based on the words of the women on the front lines of the Suffrage movement. The performance will include historical images and footage.
