Through the Door
The Definition of a Threshold is:
- The sill or strip of wood, metal, or stone at the bottom of a door;
- The beginning of a new event, state, or phase;
- The point or value at which something starts or stops happening, or begins to take effect.
In the context of “Through the Door: Voices of Addiction, Loss and Hope,” it is a time to celebrate transformation, new beginnings, and stepping into a season of growth and healing. Through this series that we are calling “The Threshold,” we will introduce you to some amazing individuals who have been impacted by Substance Use Disorder, either personally or profressionally or both. The stories and lessons that they have to share will hopefully help to shatter the stigma surrounding this topic, promote understanding, and inspire and empower others to join in on these important conversations over the coming months.
Note: this blog may contain frank discussions of substance use, overdose, death – including potentially minors, and other details that may be challenging or triggering to people with first or second-hand experience with substance use disorder. If you are struggling and would like help, please reference this list of community resources.
